When the City of London Distillery opened in 2012, it was the first (and still the only) distillery within London's iconic Square Mile for nearly 200 years, bringing gin distillation back to its historic heart. Production began on a pair of copper pot stills, affectionately named Jennifer and Clarissa after the famous 'Two Fat Ladies'. A third still was acquired in 2016, named Elizabeth to acknowledge her Majesty's jubilee year.
City of London Distillery focuses on traditional gin styles with contemporary influences, first producing a London Dry Gin, and progressing to delicately flavoured varieties made with a combination of pot and vapour distillation. City of London Distillery is also the Home of Whitley Neill, the UK's number 1 premium gin. After the success of Whitley Neill London Dry (distilled with African botanicals), an impressive range of expressions followed, all adventurously inspired by flavours from around the world, and overseen by a family with 8 generations of distillers.
As well as a distillery and bottle shop, the venue also houses a fully stocked cocktail bar. Take a seat at the bar, and expect your bartender to expertly guide you through the gins, tonics, and cocktails on offer. Better yet, book yourself onto a distillery tour and tasting, or even a 'make your own gin' lab session, to create, distil, and bottle your very own gin recipe, finishing off with a Whitley Neill martini or two!
The latest addition to the Whitley Neill range is the new Connoisseur’s Cut London Dry Gin. To create this new variant, Johnny Neill has refined the most beautiful of traditional dry gins – letting the rich juniper and citrus notes really come to the fore. It is bottled at a higher ABV of 47% to ensure all botanicals shine through, providing an exceptional Gin to add to the Whitley Neill range.
